Imani Rhema founded the Soul Food Poetry Cafe in 2007 with this vision in mind: To host a quality spoken word event in Nashville, providing a platform for seasoned performance artists as well as up and coming poets. Soul Food Poetry Cafe has hosted the range: from award-winning artists, HBO Def Poets, to artists bursting out on the scene for the first time. She remarks, "We are the spot artists look for when traveling to Nashville for spoken word". An award-winning poet herself, Imani has hosted the Cafe in several venues since its inception, and will be resuming the award winning showcase in Summer 2016. She will be releasing her CD, My Sister's Keeper, very soon.
The venue will be the upscale Venue 109.
